Composition of the Citizens’ Council on Carbon Neutrality

  • (Future generations) Improving the representation of future generations in the Council by including teenagers aged 15 and over*
    *Including 23 persons aged between 15 and 18 (originally included male and female adults aged 19 and over)
  • (Subdivision) Subdividing* people aged over 60
    *83 persons in their 60s and 55 persons in their 70s (originally considered persons aged 60 and over as a single group)
  • (Composition) The Citizens’ Council on Carbon Neutrality was established taking current demographic proportions into account. Those in their 50s make up a majority at 20.1% (107 persons), followed by those in their 40s (18.4%), those in their 60s (15.6%), and those in their 30s (15.6%).

  • A systematic deliberation process consisting of orientation, e-learning, carbon class for citizens, civic discussion, etc. was followed by the members of the Citizens’ Participation sub-Commission of the 2050 Carbon Neutrality Commission. This process encompasses a wide range of issues from understanding the basic concept of carbon neutrality to more complex issues related to climate change that have major impacts on our country and the international community.
