U.S. President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump are scheduled to make a state visit to Korea in early November at the invitation of President Moon Jae-in and First Lady Kim Jung-sook. President Trump will be the first head of state to visit Korea since the inauguration of the Moon Jae-in Administration.
Presidents Moon and Trump will hold a summit and a joint press conference following an official welcoming ceremony on November 7. President Moon will also host a state dinner for the U.S. President and First Lady. While in Seoul, President Trump will address the National Assembly.
At the summit, the two heads of state are expected to discuss a range of issues, including ways to reinforce the ROK-U.S. alliance, Korea-U.S. coordination to resolve the North Korean nuclear issue, the establishment of peace and stability in Northeast Asia and measures to deepen substantive and global cooperation between the two countries.
President Trump’s visit will be the first state visit to Korea by a U.S. president in 25 years. His visit is anticipated to serve as a catalyst for reaffirming trust and friendship between the two Presidents and further solidifying the ironclad ROK-U.S. alliance.
Further details about President Trump’s itinerary, including his arrival and departure time, are under discussion between the two Governments.
