President Moon Jae-in visited the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery in Jakarta to pay his respects to start off the second day of his state visit to Indonesia. The Kalibata Heroes Cemetery is where fallen soldiers who fought for the independence of Indonesia rest in peace, an equivalent of Korea’s National Cemetery.
President Moon was guided by Commander Malioga into the cemetery. The President laid a wreath with a ribbon that read, "Moon Jae-in, President of the Republic of Korea," at the monument to the unknown soldiers and offered a one-minute silent tribute for Indonesia’s fallen soldiers.
After the wreath-laying, President Moon stopped by the tomb of General Agus Salim, who fought for Indonesia’s independence and later served as the country’s foreign minister. The President scattered flowers on the tomb to pay his tribute as Indonesians do. President Moon also asked the Korean Ambassador to Indonesia about the country’s independence movement and the achievements of General Agus Salim.
