President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, together with his wife Ziroatkhon Hoshimova, is scheduled to make a state visit to Korea November 22-25 at the invitation of President Moon Jae-in and First Lady Kim Jung-sook.
Adding special meaning to his four-day state visit, it comes in the year marking the 25th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Korea and Uzbekistan. It will be his first visit to Korea.
On November 23, Presidents Moon and Mirziyoyev will hold a summit following an official welcoming ceremony. On the same day, President Moon and First Lady Kim will host a state dinner for the visiting First Couple.
During his stay in Seoul, President Mirziyoyev is scheduled to address the National Assembly.
At the summit, the two Presidents will take stock of the progress in bilateral relations over the past 25 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties. They will exchange ideas on how to promote substantive cooperation in various areas, including trade, investment and infrastructure expansion. In addition, the two heads of state will have in-depth discussions on ways to advance a forward-looking strategic partnership for the sake of contributing to peace and prosperity in the region and expanding cooperation in the international arena.
The summit will be their first since the two heads of state were inaugurated. The meeting is expected to foster trust and friendship between the two leaders and further substantive, friendly and cooperative relations between Korea and Uzbekistan, Korea’s key friendly country in Central Asia.
