President Moon Jae-in is scheduled to meet with heads of state and government, as well as senior officials, from many countries around the world on the sidelines of the 2018 PyeongChang Olympic Winter Games.
As a starter, President Moon and the President of Estonia will have a summit at Cheong Wa Dae on Tuesday, February 6.
On Wednesday, February 7, President Moon will hold summits with the Governor-General of Canada and the President of Lithuania at Cheong Wa Dae.
On Thursday, February 8, President Moon and the President of the Swiss Confederation will hold a summit at Cheong Wa Dae, which will be followed by a summit and luncheon between the Korean and German Presidents. Thereafter, President Moon will meet with Han Zheng, a member of the Politburo Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and hold a summit with the President of Poland. Later in the day, the President will meet with the U.S. Vice President and host a dinner for him.
On Friday, February 9, the opening day of the Olympics, President Moon is scheduled to have a luncheon with the U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in Gangneung. Afterwards, the President will move to Pyeongchang and hold summit meetings with the Japanese Prime Minister and Dutch Prime Minister.
President Moon will hold a series of summits at Cheong Wa Dae with the Latvian President on Tuesday, February 13, the Norwegian Prime Minister on Thursday, February 15 and the Slovenian President on Tuesday, February 20. The President will host a luncheon for each of the three leaders, who will be making an official visit to Korea on the occasion of the PyeongChang Winter Olympics.
In addition, President Moon and the First Lady will attend the opening ceremony of the 132nd International Olympic Committee Session to be held at the Gangneung Arts Center on February 5 as the first event on his itinerary in relation to the PyeongChang Olympics. They are expected to express their gratitude to the IOC for its extensive support to and trust in Korea in efforts to successfully host the PyeongChang Olympics as an Olympics of peace.
Prior to the opening ceremony of IOC Session, President Moon and the First Lady are scheduled to attend a reception at St. John’s Hotel in Gangneung for IOC members who are visiting Korea to attend the PyeongChang Olympics and IOC Session.
