President Moon Jae-in met with President Takehiko Nakao of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) at Cheong Wa Dae today. They discussed measures to promote sustainable development cooperation in Asia. The ADB was founded in 1966 with the goal of fostering economic growth and cooperation in developing nations in the Asia-Pacific region.

President Moon began by explaining that Korea was pushing for the New Southern Policy and the New Northern Policy to pursue common prosperity and peace in the Asian region while sharing its growth experience with Asian countries. He continued that Korea hoped to work closely with the ADB to achieve the goals of innovative and inclusive growth as well as sustainable development in Asia. 

Noting that Korea was a founding member of the ADB in 1966, the ADB President said Korea has been a crucial partner for the organization. He expressed the hope that the Korean Government would make additional contributions in the years to come through the New Southern Policy and the New Northern Policy. He also asked the Korean Government to continue to support the ADB and Asia-Pacific nations, expressing his gratitude for its endeavor to date.
