President Moon Jae-in spoke by phone to U.S. President Donald Trump from 11:20 to 11:45 tonight. President Trump explained that the three American detainees in North Korea were freed in good health and that their release would have a positive impact on the upcoming summit between the North and the United States. He added that he was grateful to President Moon for providing assistance in freeing them.
President Moon congratulated President Trump on the release of the detainees, saying it was a very good decision in terms of human rights and from a humanitarian perspective. He also said it should be attributed to President Trump’s determination and leadership.
President Trump said that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who was visiting North Korea, had very productive discussions with Chairman of the State Affairs Commission Kim Jong Un.
