President Moon Jae-in spoke on the phone with U.S. President Donald Trump for 40 minutes from 4:30 this afternoon. President Moon began by saying that it was thanks entirely to President Trump’s resolute determination and strong leadership that the historic North Korea-U.S. summit could finally be held tomorrow.
He went on to say all Koreans would pray with all their hearts so that President Trump would be able to make a miraculous achievement at the summit.
After President Trump explained to President Moon what had been discussed between the United States and North Korea leading up to the summit in Singapore, the two leaders went on to have concrete discussions on how to reap successful results.
The two Presidents shared a common understanding that there would be significant achievements if the leaders of the United States and North Korea endeavored to find common denominators between the two countries through a candid dialogue at the face-to-face meeting and agreed to work together to resolve the issues in a bold manner as the whole world wishes.
President Trump said he would send Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to Korea right after the summit to explain the result in details. He went on to say that he would discuss with President Moon ways for the two countries to cooperate to help give the result of the summit concrete substance going forward.
President Moon said if the North Korea-U.S. summit succeeded, it would be a great gift for people around the world and an excellent present for President Trump’s birthday on June 14.
