President Moon Jae-in is scheduled to make state visits to India and Singapore, respectively, July 8-13.

President Moon will first make a state visit to India July 8-11 at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

India is emerging as a major power with its rapidly growing economy. It is one of the key partners in the Korean Government’s New Southern Policy.

This year marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Korea and India. The two countries are evolving into important partners for cooperation not only in the economic sector but also in the pursuit of peace and prosperity on the Korean Peninsula and in the international community.

President Moon’s itinerary includes a meeting with Indian President Ram Nath Kovind and a summit with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. They will discuss how to add concrete substance to the two countries’ special strategic partnership and expand forward-looking bilateral cooperation.

Afterwards, President Moon will fly to Singapore for a state visit July 11-13 at the invitation of Singaporean President Halimah Yacob. 
Singapore is Korea's largest construction market in Asia and the second largest trading partner among ASEAN member nations. It is also a partner country that shares a vision of creating new growth engines through innovations in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. 
During the upcoming visit, President Moon will take stock of the achievements of bilateral cooperation to date while meeting with President Halimah Yacob and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. Based on this evaluation, the President will discuss possible forward-looking cooperation between the two nations.   

In addition, President Moon is scheduled to give a “Singapore Lecture” before opinion leaders of that country, including those in political, business and academic circles as well as government agencies and media. He intends to talk about his vision and policy for denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula and establishing permanent peace. The President will also explain the New Southern Policy being pursued by the Korean Government to upgrade cooperation between Korea and ASEAN. 
India is the first South Asian country for President Moon to visit since his inauguration, and Singapore is the Chair of ASEAN this year.       
The President’s visit to these two countries is expected to expand the country’s diplomatic horizon and implement the New Southern Policy in earnest, a policy on which the Korean Government has laid great emphasis.
