President Moon Jae-in is heading for New York to attend the 73rd Session of the United Nations General Assembly. During his five days scheduled at the U.N. General Assembly, President Moon will inform the world of the Republic of Korea’s endeavors to bring peace to the Korean Peninsula and build goodwill with various countries through talks with their heads of state and government.
On September 24, President Moon and U.S. President Donald Trump will hold a summit to discuss the process of denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula. On the same day, the President will also sit down with U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres, the fourth meeting with the Secretary-General following his inauguration, to exchange ideas concerning cooperation with the United Nations and the international community for denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula. In addition, President Moon will hold summits with the leaders of Spain and Chile.
On September 26, President Moon will address the U.N. General Assembly. Through the speech, the President will explain in detail about the Republic of Korea’s efforts and vision to establish peace on the Korean Peninsula and pledge its substantive role in pending international issues, including climate change, human rights and peacekeeping.
