President Moon Jae-in visited the Council on Foreign Relations in New York this afternoon to attend an event titled “Our Greater Alliance, Making Peace: A Conversation with President Moon Jae-in.” It was co-hosted by the Council on Foreign Relations, the Korea Society and Asia Society.
President Moon delivered special remarks in front of numerous dignitaries. The hosts included President Richard Haass of the Council on Foreign Relations; the Chairman and President of the Korea Society, Thomas Hubbard and Thomas Byrne, and their wives; and Asia Society Policy Institute President Kevin Rudd and Vice President Daniel Russel. Also in attendance were former U.S. Ambassador to South Korea Mark Lippert and Marc Knapper, former Chargé d'Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Seoul.
ASPI President Rudd praised President Moon’s achievements regarding improved inter-Korean relations, saying that the President had seized the opportunity, confronted reality and changed the trend. Korea Society Chairman Hubbard said President Moon has paved a way for a new Korean Peninsula and a way for denuclearization on a Peninsula that is free of nuclear threats.
