President Moon Jae-in, who is currently making a state visit to Brunei, was briefed by Chief of Staff for Policy Kim Soo-hyun today on countermeasures against fine dust. Following the briefing, the President gave a directive to actively accommodate a proposal by Chairperson Sohn Hak-kyu of the Bareunmirae Party to form a pan-national organization to address fine dust pollution.
In this connection, Cheong Wa Dae will request former U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to lead the proposed organization if available. Cheong Wa Dae will also review how to define the roles of the existing special committee on tackling fine dust and the newly established national organization.
