With regard to the sinking of a sightseeing boat with a group of Korean tourists on board in the Danube River in Budapest, Hungary at 4:00 a.m. (Korean time), President Moon Jae-in issued an emergency instruction to mobilize every possible means to support rescue efforts in cooperation with the Hungarian Government.
After being briefed by Director of National Security Chung Eui-yong about the accident, President Moon directed that a central response headquarters be promptly formed and led by Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha and that the victims’ families in Korea be kept informed of the latest developments.
The President also instructed his officials to dispatch a rapid response team to Hungary immediately.
