President Moon Jae-in will visit Bangkok, the Kingdom of Thailand, November 3-5 to attend ASEAN-related summits.

During the ASEAN-related summits, President Moon is expected to explain the Korean Government’s position concerning a wide range of key pending issues within the region, including the latest developments on the Korean Peninsula. The President plans to call for ASEAN’s continued interest and cooperation once again in regard to the success of the 2019 ASEAN-Republic of Korea Commemorative Summit and the 1st Mekong-Republic of Korea Summit to be held in Busan, Korea, November 25-27.

The detailed itinerary is as follows: President Moon will attend the ASEAN+3 Summit on the morning of November 4. As the “35th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits” will be held under the theme of “Advancing Partnerships for Sustainability,” President Moon will present the construction of a sustainable community as the goal of regional cooperation and will emphasize the necessity for joint endeavors to this end.

Following the ASEAN+3 Summit, President Moon will attend the Special Lunch on Sustainable Development and introduce his Administration’s relevant efforts. 

In the afternoon on the same day, President Moon will attend the East Asia Summit and explain the Korean Government’s diplomatic efforts for substantive progress in achieving the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and establishing permanent peace. The President will also ask for steadfast support from the international community to advance the peace process on the Korean Peninsula. 

Moreover, President Moon will express the Korean Government’s commitment to coordinating its New Southern Policy with the regional partnership initiatives proposed by other countries. He will also underline Korea’s endeavors for peace and prosperity in the region.
