President Moon Jae-in met with Filipino President Rodrigo Duterte for a summit today and pointed out that more Koreans visited the Philippines last year than people from any other nation. He then proposed that the two countries step up their economic cooperation.
Mentioning that the power plants built and run by Korean companies produce about 10 percent of the Philippines’ electricity supply, President Moon expressed his hope that Korean businesses would be able to participate in more energy projects in the Philippines going forward.
President Duterte responded by asking for greater Korean investment in the Philippines’ solar power project.
The Filipino President also said he intends to invite President Moon to the Philippines for a state visit next year to discuss bilateral economic cooperation and other issues of mutual interest.
