President Moon Jae-in met with U.S. Special Representative for North Korea Stephen Biegun at Cheong Wa Dae for 35 minutes from 11:00 a.m. today. President Moon praised the special representative’s efforts to date to secure denuclearization and a permanent peace regime on the Korean Peninsula. The President also asked the special representative to continue his work to help advance the peace process on the Peninsula.
Special Representative Biegun said that he remains steadfast in his intention to never give up and do his utmost in order to fulfil the historic task of denuclearizing and establishing peace on the Korean Peninsula through dialogue and negotiations.
After meeting with President Moon, Special Representative Biegun consulted with Director of National Security Chung Eui-yong. They shared their assessments of the current situation and agreed to continue close communication in order to advance negotiations.
