President Moon Jae-in met with U.S. President Joe Biden prior to attending the official welcoming ceremony for the G20 Summit this morning (local time) in Rome, Italy. President Biden greeted President Moon warmly and said that the G20 Summit would proceed well since the Korean President was in attendance.
President Moon said he was also pleased to meet with the U.S. President and added, “I heard about your meeting with Pope Francis. I also had a private audience with His Holiness yesterday. He prayed for peace on the Korean Peninsula and said that, if invited, he would visit North Korea.”
President Biden called that welcome news and said President Moon is making progress resolving Korean Peninsula issues.
On October 31, President Moon is also scheduled to attend a global summit on supply chain resilience presided over by President Biden.
