(unofficial translation)
I am glad to meet you, Chairman Albert Bourla and Senior Vice President Jon Selib.
Chairman Bourla, I am so pleased to meet you today at long last. I am grateful to you for taking time out of your busy schedule. Pfizer has become the world’s most famous and important enterprise this year. Your company is rescuing humanity from the pandemic. Regarding this remarkable achievement, I extend my gratitude together with congratulations.
Pfizer supplying Korea vaccines as ordered without disruption this year has enabled 70 percent of Koreans as well to receive their first shot as of last week. We are now planning for 70 percent of the population to have received a second dose by the end of next month. In addition to this, we also plan to broaden the age groups eligible for shots to raise our inoculation rate further.
About half of those vaccinated in Korea have received the Pfizer vaccine. It has now become the Korean people’s most trusted vaccine. I am grateful for Pfizer’s contributions.
I also express gratitude to Pfizer for cooperating earlier with Korea and Israel to help us achieve our vaccine swap.
