In August 1981, a young man was tortured for over a month in room No. 510 of the former Namyeong-dong police detachment office for anti-communist interrogation. That young man is now well past 70 years old and has become the manager for security at the building where he was tortured.

How many people’s blood, sweat and tears have contributed to achieving the democracy we bask in today?

Scenes from the Republic of Korea’s democratization history that must be remembered as told by Yoo Dong-woo, a torture victim-turned security manager at the Democracy and Human Rights Memorial Hall.
