Cheong Wa Dae spokesperson Park Soo-hyun announced on May 16 that member of congress Kim Jin-pyo from the Democratic Party of Korea and former member of congress Lee Yong-seop have been appointed as chair of the state affairs advisory committee and as vice chair of the presidential job committee.
Senior presidential secretary for social policies Kim Su-hyun said at the Chunchugwan press center at Cheong Wa Dae that, “The newly appointed commissioner Kim is currently serving as counsel for the State Affairs Committee of the Democratic Party of Korea, and he has a lot of experience managing state affairs and taking over state affairs, as he has also worked as vice head of the transition committee for former President Roh Moo-hyun in 2003.”
The State Affairs Advisory Committee will serve as a transition committee for presidential affairs for the new government,” said Kim. “The committee will serve as a consultative body concerning the organization and functions of the new government as it figures out the current status of the budget and sets up policy directions for the new government,” he said.

In regard to the appointment of former congressman Lee Yong-seop, Secretary Kim said, “Lee has a lot of experience managing state affairs, as he has served as minister at two ministries, the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Land and Transport.”
“Lee will serve as a coordinator and moderator, controlling various job creation policies at many government ministries, so his appointment holds great importance,” said Kim.
In regard to the presidential job committee chaired by President Moon Jae-in, Secretary Kim said, “The decision to chair the committee himself shows President Moon`s will to coordinate, assess and set up job creation policies first-hand.”
“President Moon once said that he hopes that many non-regular workers, women and youth will be able to take part in the committee, so that they can represent the voices of those who experience hardship or difficulty due to job issues,” he said.
