President Moon Jae-in met with former U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to discuss the upcoming 72nd session of the U.N. General Assembly (UNGA 72) and other issues related to diplomacy and security, at Cheong Wa Dae on Sept. 11.
President Moon will visit New York from Sept. 18 to 22 to attend the UNGA 72, and he`s scheduled to give a speech in a plenary session during the general debates on Sept. 21.
During his meeting with Ban, the president said that he hopes to return from the UNGA 72 with fruitful outcomes that address some of the issues facing the Korean Peninsula and the world at large, in the midst of Pyongyang`s ongoing nuclear weapons tests.
Ban said that he is hopeful that the president will come back from the UNGA 72 with many results, and stressed that he will continue to support the president, using the experience he acquired while serving as U.N. Secretary-General from 2007 to 2016.
