President Moon Jae-in, visiting New York to attend the 72nd session of the United Nations General Assembly, held a meeting with Koreans and Korean-Americans residing in the New York area on Sept. 18, and asked them to actively promote next year`s PyeongChang 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
“With me, one of the honorary ambassadors for the upcoming Winter Olympic Games, please let other people know about the Winter Games in Pyeongchang, Gangwon-do Province, which is cozy, dynamic and beautiful,” said President Moon to some 300 Korean and Korean-American residents in New York who have been appointed as promoters for the PyeongChang Winter Games.
The president mentioned some local New Yorkers who sang songs on the streets of the city calling for the Winter Games to be awarded to Pyeongchang, and said, “Then, about 200 Koreans and Korean-Americans participated, and it really heated up the vive.
