President Moon Jae-in sent a congratulatory message to German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Sept. 25, saluting her recent election victory that secured her a fourth term in office.
"The result of this election is a reflection of how much your citizens support and trust your leadership. I`m confident that you will continue to pave the road for Germany to prosper and flourish," wrote President Moon.
Referring to the recent Korea-Germany summit that was held on the sidelines of the 2017 G20 Hamburg Summit this past July, and their phone conversation following North Korea`s sixth nuclear weapons test, the president said he considered these interactions to be meaningful for their cooperative relationship.
"I hope you will visit Korea at your earliest convenience so that we can discuss ways to further expand our relationship, and cooperate on regional and global issues, including a way to peacefully resolve the North Korean nuclear weapons issue," he said.
