President Moon Jae-in is scheduled to visit Beijing and Chongqing from Dec. 13 to 16.
During President Moon’s state visit, which is at Chinese President Xi Jinping’s invitation, he will attend a summit and a state banquet with his counterpart, and talk with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang in Beijing about the development of the 25 years of friendship between Seoul and Beijing, and possible areas for improvement. He will also visit Chongqing on Dec. 15 and 16.
“This first visit to China after having taken office will build trust and friendship between the summits, and based on that it will be a turning point to quickly restore the development of exchanges and cooperation between Seoul and Beijing,” said Cheong Wa Dae spokesperson Park Soo-hyun on Dec. 6. “This state visit will be an opportunity to prepare for an energetic start to another 25 years of the quarter-century relationship between Korea and China.”
