President Moon Jae-in is set to hold talks with more than a dozen global leaders this month on the sidelines of the upcoming PyeongChang 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
According to Cheong Wa Dae spokesperson Kim Eui-kyeom who held a press briefing on Feb. 2, the president will begin holding bilateral talks early next week.
President Moon will hold his first summit with Estonian President Kersti Kaljulaid at Cheong Wa Dae on Feb. 6. Bilateral talks with Canadian Governor General Julie Payette, and Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite will follow on Feb. 7.
On Feb. 8, President Moon will hold meetings with Swiss President Alain Berset and German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. Later that day, President Moon will meet with Han Zheng, a member of China`s Standing Committee, and Polish President Andrzej Duda, before being joined by U.S. Vice President Mike Pence for dinner at Cheong Wa Dae.
On Feb. 9, the day of the PyeongChang Opening Ceremony, President Moon will travel to Gangneung to hold a meeting with U.N. Secretary General Antonio Guterres. He will then move to Pyeongchang and hold bilateral meetings with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte.
The president is also scheduled to hold talks with Latvian President Raimonds Vejonis on Feb. 13. He will meet with Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg on Feb. 15, and with Slovenian President Borut Pahor on Feb. 20.
