Korean and U.S. leaders will hold a phone call immediately after the 2018 Inter-Korean Summit, and hold a bilateral meeting before the summit between Washington and Pyeongyang, announced Cheong Wa Dae on April 25.
Presidential Senior Secretary for Public Relations Yoon Young-chan on April 25 said in a media briefing that, “Director of National Security Chung Eui-yong, currently on a U.S. visit, met with U.S. National Security Advisor John Bolton to discuss measures on how to work closely between Seoul and Washington by sharing overall preparation details of the 2018 Inter-Korean Summit.”
“They also fine-tuned measures to achieve the goal of denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula and discussed future circumstances after the Inter-Korean Summit,” said the senior presidential secretary.
“The two agreed that President Moon Jae-in and U.S. President Donald Trump would have a phone call to talk about the results of the summit,” said Yoon.
“Chung and Bolton also agreed to push for a summit meeting between the two presidents before the U.S.-North Korea summit,” he added.
“Director Chung said the meeting with Bolton was very substantial and helpful, and both Seoul and Washington agreed to work closely together after the Inter-Korean Summit for the success of the U.S.-North Korea Summit,” said Yoon.
