President Moon Jae-in reminisced about his one-year presidency on May 10 marking the first anniversary of his inauguration, and he said that he hopes that the people would enjoy peace in their daily lives in the years to come.
In a Facebook post under the title of “Just as in the beginning, I will continue to walk along with the people,” President Moon said that, “The past year was a year in which the nation and I, as president, never stopped running.”
“It was a year in which I’ve tried to heal all the wounds and pursue reconciliation, a year in which I’ve endeavored to come out from under the fear of nuclear weapons and war and make a sustainable peace, a year in which I’ve tried to show off our potential to the world by successfully hosting the Olympic and Paralympic Games, and a year in which, most all, I’ve worked to make the people proud of themselves belonging to this country,” the president wrote.
“Hopefully, this year has given the people hope that things have clearly changed and that things are going in the right direction. By the time my presidential term comes to an end, I want to hear people say that, ‘Things have really changed a lot. Life has gotten better,’” he concluded.
