Indian newspapers, TV stations and online media have been covering news about President Moon Jae-in's state visit to India from July 8 to 11 with grave interest.
The English daily The Pioneer said on July 8 that, "Moon’s visit to India and Singapore rationalizes the 'newness' of his New Southern Policy." The article was written by Jagannath Panda from the Institute for Defense Studies and Analyses in New Delhi.
Panda said that Moon's New Southern Policy is "about expanding Seoul’s economic outreach in ASEAN and India." He also noted that it "emphasizes the vitality of ASEAN and India in Korean foreign and economic diplomacy, and illustrates a 'no conflicting' approach that Seoul enjoys with both ASEAN and India largely, compared with its relationship with China and Japan."
He then wrote that, "Seoul not only wants to build stronger economic contacts with India, but also wants to figure out if India will accord South Korea ahead of Japan in its foreign policy engagement. Moon’s visit to India must encourage New Delhi to seriously read the new context arriving in India-South Korea relations."
The Indian Express also reported President Moon's arrival on July 8, with the words, "He will hold talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on key issues such as the situation on the Korean Peninsula and ways to boost trade and defense cooperation."
Prior to President Moon’s visit to the new Samsung factory, India's state TV station DD News reported that, “Samsung’s investment contributes to India’s 'Skill India' and 'Make-in-India' campaigns.”
It covered news of President Moon visiting the Samsung factory in Noida, especially the part where the president sat down and talked with Prime Minister Modi side-by-side in a subway car on his way to the factory. The scene was broadcast live. DD News said that people on the train showed great interest by waving their hands and taking pictures.

We welcome President Moon and Prime Minister Modi attending the inauguration of Samsung's new mobile factory in Noida."
