President Moon Jae-in will visit Washington from June 28 and hold the first Korea-U.S. summit with U.S. President Donald Trump of his inauguration.
Cheong Wa Dae spokesperson Park Soo-hyun told reporters on June 13 at the Chunchugwan Press Center at Cheong Wa Dae that, "President Moon will hold a summit meeting, a joint press conference and other official itineraries with Trump at the White House on June 29 and 30."
The two leaders will exchange views on ways to further develop the Korea-U.S. alliance, and joint measures to fundamentally solve the North Korean nuclear weapons issue and to realize peace on the Korean Peninsula. They will also discuss how to boost the bilateral cooperation and Seoul-Washington cooperation at the global level.
Cheong Wa Dae spokesperson Park said, “President Moon’s upcoming U.S. visit offers an important opportunity for both countries to build a foundation in order to take the Seoul-Washington relationship to a higher level, since the launch of the new government.”
“The upcoming U.S. trip holds significance as it will take place at one of the most important times ever, as the steadfast Korea-U.S. alliance is needed,” he added.
