President Moon Jae-in on April 1 toured the Gumi industrial zone in Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, a complex in the country's region hit hardest by COVID-19, and said, "Solidarity and cooperation are the only answers in the fight against the coronavirus."

He visited the complex given its significance in national efforts to overcome the COVID-19 crisis. 

While there, the president praised the complex's crisis management efforts such as rapidly turning its research facilities into those for the production of MB filters, a key ingredient for medical masks, donating filters for two million masks and setting up a negative pressure ward at Seoul National University Hospital in the province's city of Mungyeong.

He also discussed his administration's efforts to save the economy, major industries and public welfare, citing an emergency fund worth KRW 32 trillion for affected businesses and an emergency financial aid package of KRW 100 trillion for stabilizing the market as a whole, as well as emergency relief payments for those in the bottom 70% of the income bracket. 

"The administration will do its very best to support the people and our businesses," the president said.

"Let's make it through this dark tunnel together by shining a light with our solidarity and cooperation."
