President Moon Jae-in was rewarded with some downtime after a couple of hectic days in his presidency.
On May 13, four days into his presidency, President Moon found some respite for the first time, as he went on a hike with a group of 60 or so journalists who had closely followed his transformation from the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea into the new leader of the nation.
It’s reported that the presidential secretaries recommended that the president go on a hike, believing that the president “needed to take some time off.”
The president and the journalists chose to climb Bugaksan Mountain, right behind the presidential residence of Cheong Wa Dae. They chatted during the two-hour hike. While catching some breath midway through the climb, they took some selfies together. When the president reached the Sukjeongmun Gate, he encountered a group of cheering mountain climbers and responded by posing for a selfie with them, too.
