President Moon Jae-in on April 18 agreed in phone talks with U.S. President Donald Trump to continue bilateral cooperation in quarantine measures to respond to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
President Trump noted that Korea's response to the pandemic has become the "best model" at a time when many countries are suffering from COVID-19.
President Moon said he hopes President Trump's strong leadership will help bring the rising COVID-19 cases in the U.S. under control in the near future so that Washington can focus on rebuilding the economy.
President Trump also thanked Korea for superbly demonstrating the spirit of the bilateral alliance by not only exporting 600,000 diagnostic kits to the U.S. on April 14, but also actively facilitating the export of other equipment in responding to the pandemic.
