President Moon Jae-in on June 4 held a phone summit with Spanish King Felipe VI on bilateral cooperation to jointly respond to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
"To brace for the post-COVID-19 era, the international community must pull together through mutual trust and inclusiveness on the basis of solidarity and cooperation," the president said.
He added that the Korean government will further strengthen global solidarity and cooperation through sharing the nation's quarantine experience and accumulated data and supplying disinfection and medical equipment.
The king said he is well aware of Korea's efficient work to reduce the number of COVID-19 victims.
"Korea's response capabilities have gained worldwide recognition," he added. "President Moon has proven his leadership through unmatched achievements."
Expressing regret over the delay in the president's planned state visit to Spain this year, the king asked the chief executive to push for the trip again after the situation calms down.
President Moon also expressed his gratitude for the invitation.
The 45-minute phone conversation was requested by the king and began at 4 p.m. Korean Standard Time, Cheong Wa Dae Spokesperson Kang Min-seok said in a written briefing.
