President Moon Jae-in on July 2 attended an event for a massive nationwide sale at Seoul's Olympic Gymnastics Stadium, saying, "I'd like to point out that while reducing consumption and saving money were once considered acts of patriotism, now spending is."

"The Korea All-together Sale is an opportunity for our consumers to personally look over high-quality products and purchase them at affordable prices," he said. "No matter how hard we try, there is a limit to how much we can speed up export recovery on our own. But, with domestic demand, we can make a difference through our own efforts."

"In the economy too, I hope that our people become the principal agents and lead a rapid recovery going forward, just as they have facilitated our success with epidemic prevention."



The sale is the first cooperative discount event hosted by the public and private sectors, with the purpose of stimulating consumption dampened by the coronavirus pandemic through the participation of all leading economic agents such as corporations, traditional markets and small businesses.

President Moon also urged the people to utilize "live commerce," a non-contact form of transaction in which people can directly choose items to ramp up consumption.
