Korea-Mongolia Summit (September 2017)
President Moon Jae-in held summit talks with his Mongolian counterpart, President Khaltmaa Battulga, on Sept. 6 during his visit to Vladivostok, Russia. The two leaders shared their ideas on how to cooperate on regional security. President Moon that this meeting would help to increase the personal trust between him and the Mongolian president, and, also, would lay a solid foundation for better ties between the two countries.
Korea-Russia Summit (July 2017)
President Moon Jae-in and Russian President Vladimir Putin held their first summit meeting on July 7 in Hamburg, Germany, on the sidelines of the G20 Summit. The two presidents discussed various issues involving the Korean Peninsula, including North Korean nuclear weapons and measures to boost bilateral cooperation.
President Moon mentioned the need to add stricter sanctions and pressure from the international community in order to prevent further provocations from Pyongyang. President Putin said that substantial and detailed approaches are needed to resolve North Korean issues.
Korea-U.S.-Japan Summit (July 2017)
President Moon Jae-in, U.S. President Donald Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe met in Hamburg, Germany, on July 6, where they released a joint statement outlining measures to deal with the threats posed by the nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programs in North Korea.
The three leaders condemned Pyongyang's provocative and threatening actions. They also made it clear that they would not tolerate Pyongyang's nuclear armament, and affirmed the importance of working together to counter the North Korean threat and to achieve a complete, verifiable and irreversible denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula in peaceful manner.
Korea-China Summit (July 2017)
President Moon Jae-in, on an official state visit to Germany, met with his Chinese counterpart President Xi Jinping in Berlin on July 6. They discussed ways to further enhance cooperation and issues of mutual interest.
The two leaders agreed that closer bonds and trust between their two nations would help to improve their strategic cooperative relationship.
Korea-Germany Summit (July 2017)
President Moon Jae-in held a summit with German Chancellor Angela Merkel at her offices in Berlin on July 5. The two leaders talked about ways to further enhance bilateral cooperation and issues of mutual interest.
Both leaders focused on North Korea in particular. President Moon stressed the need for stronger sanctions and greater pressure to stop the regime from carrying out further missile tests.
Korea-U.S. Summit (June 2017)
President Moon Jae-in visited Washington D.C. from June 28 to hold the first Korea-U.S. summit of his administration with U.S. President Donald Trump. The two leaders discussed cooperation measures on advancing the Korea-U.S. alliance, joint measures to fundamentally solve issues involving the Korean Peninsula, and discuss ways to deepen bilateral cooperation on trade and other global issues.
The two leaders adopted a joint statement following the summit at the White House on June 30. They agreed to further enhance the Korea-U.S. alliance and to cooperate on dealing with the problem of North Korean nuclear weapons.
