They also expressed satisfaction that the peoples of the two nations began to perceive the effects of revitalized bilateral exchanges and cooperation thanks to the endeavors of the Governments of both countries following President Moon’s visit to China.

President Xi welcomed the achievement in improving inter-Korean relations through the recent high-level talks and said he actively supported the endeavors of President Moon and the Korean Government.
The two Presidents agreed to enhance strategic communication and cooperation between the two nations so that the recent dialogue could lead to the peaceful resolution of the North Korean nuclear issue and settlement of peace on the Korean Peninsula, going beyond the North`s participation in the PyeongChang Winter Olympics.
President Xi also said he actively endorsed President Moon`s position that the efforts to improve inter-Korean relations and denuclearize the Korean Peninsula had to be pursued simultaneously.
President Moon asked President Xi to attend the closing ceremony of the PyeongChang Winter Olympics. In response, President Xi suggested that the two countries make efforts to ensure a successful transition between the PyeongChang and Beijing Winter Olympics at the closing ceremony through close bilateral cooperation.
