The President to Attend ASEAN-related Summits and APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting
President Moon Jae-in will visit Singapore and Papua New Guinea November 13-18 to attend ASEAN-related summits and the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting, respectively.
President Moon will begin his six-day trip with a visit to Singapore November 13-16.
During his stay there, the President is scheduled to attend the Korea-ASEAN Summit, the ASEAN Plus Three (APT) Summit and the East Asia Summit (EAS).
At the ASEAN-related summits, President Moon will explain his Administration's New Southern Policy and emphasize its commitment to cooperation for expanding trade and investments and promoting connectivity in the region as well as developing an East Asian Community.
On top of this, the President will give explanations about his Administration's efforts for denuclearization and the settlement of peace on the Korean Peninsula, thereby expanding the global support base to that end.
President Moon will next fly to Papua New Guinea to attend the 26th APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting November 17-18.
At the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting to be held under the theme of “Harnessing Inclusive Opportunities, Embracing the Digital Future,” President Moon is scheduled to propose Korea’s vision to build “an innovative, inclusive nation, in which everyone prospers together.”
President Moon is also seeking bilateral summits with heads of state and government of major countries participating in the ASEAN-related summits and the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting. By doing so, the President is expected to not only promote substantive friendly cooperative relations between Korea and respective countries but also help solidify their support for Korea’s efforts to achieve permanent peace and prosperity on the Korean Peninsula.
