First Lady Kim Jung-sook, who is visiting India at the official invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, met with Minister of External Affairs of India Sushma Swaraj at 10:00 am (local time) as the first event on her itinerary.
At their 25-minute meeting, First Lady Kim expressed her appreciation for Prime Minister Modi having invited her to the Diwali festival as the guest of honor. She also highlighted the importance of a special strategic partnership between Korea and India and the resultant synergy effect benefiting the two countries. In addition, the First Lady restated her commitment to playing whatever role she could to the fullest for the sake of promoting bilateral relations.
Saying she understood that India is the first country the First Lady has visited without the President, Minister Swaraj added that the Indian side was all the more pleased.
