The Republic of Korea Government welcomes the decision by the United States and North Korea to hold their second summit at the end of February. The upcoming North Korea-U.S. summit is expected to serve as a turning point for firmly establishing permanent peace on the Korean Peninsula.
The Government will continue to cooperate with countries concerned on the basis of close ROK-U.S. coordination so that the second summit can produce concrete and practical results for the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and the establishment of the permanent peace regime agreed to by the leaders of the two Koreas and the United States last year.
Together in close cooperation with the United States, the Government will also expand dialogue with North Korea, taking on every role we can possibly assume to ensure the success of the upcoming summit.
