For 40 minutes from 5:00 p.m., President Moon Jae-in met with IMF Asia and Pacific Department Director Rhee Changyong at Cheong Wa Dae.
In regard to the IMF’s outlook for the global economy, Director Rhee explained that world economic growth, which had been expanding along with the 2016-2017 trend toward global trade recovery, was showing signs of slowing down from the second half of 2018. He went on to say, however, that the possibility of global recession was not a concern.
After briefing the President on factors behind downside risks to the global economy and the prospects for different regions, Director Rhee spoke with him about the outlook for the Korean economy.
