Their Majesties King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain will make a state visit to Korea October 23-24 at the invitation of President Moon Jae-in.
President Moon will hold a summit with King Felipe in the afternoon of October 23 and host a state dinner in honor of the Spanish king and queen. King Felipe’s visit will be the first by a Spanish monarch in 23 years since King Juan Carlos I visited Korea in 1996.
At the summit, President Moon is expected to note the leadership of King Felipe, who is highly revered among the Spanish people, and engage in discussions on how to promote bilateral cooperation in various fields such as the economy, science and technology as well as culture. At the same time, they will exchange ideas in regard to the latest regional developments, including the Korean Government’s endeavors to settle peace on the Korean Peninsula and global collaboration.
The forthcoming state visit by King Felipe and Queen Letizia ahead of the 70th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Korea and Spain next year is anticipated to serve as an opportunity to further deepen friendly bilateral ties and cement the foundation for advancing forward-looking relations between the two countries.
