President Moon Jae-in will meet with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Chinese Premier Li Keqiang in Tokyo on May 9.
The president’s visit to Japan is the first time in six years and five months for a Korean president to visit Japan, since former President Lee Myung-bak’s visit in December 2011.
At the trilateral summit, President Moon will outline the outcomes of the recent Inter-Korean Summit and discuss with the two leaders ways to further enhance trilateral cooperation so as to ensure the establishment of denuclearization and a permanent peace on the Korean Peninsula.
On the sidelines, President Moon will hold a meeting with the Japanese leader and share his thoughts on ways to develop the Seoul-Tokyo relationship in a future-oriented manner.
