President Moon Jae-in headed to Washington, D.C., on May 21 to hold talks with his U.S. counterpart, Donald Trump.
His visit to the U.S. is his third and his summit with President Trump will be his fifth since taking office.
Leaving the Seoul Air Base in Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do Province, President Moon will be arriving in Washington, D.C., and staying for the night at Blair House, the official presidential guest house attached to the White House.
On May 22, the president will begin his official itinerary of events by meeting diplomatic and security officials from the Trump administration. Later in the day, he will hold a one-on-one meeting with President Trump and continue talks over lunch.
Following the summit, President Moon will then visit the Joseon-era legation building of the Korean Empire (1897-1910) to commemorate the 136th anniversary of the 1882 Korea-U.S. Treaty of Peace, Amity, Commerce and Navigation, and, also, the 130th anniversary of the opening of the legation itself. There he will meet with descendants of the first minister plenipotentiary Park Jeong-yang and officials Yi Sang-jae and Jang Bong-hwan to give some words of encouragement.
In the evening, he will depart the U.S. and return home, landing early in the morning on May 24.
