President Moon Jae-in hosted a meeting with his senior secretaries on June 1 to discuss key issues concerning state affairs.
Beginning his speech with the appointment of Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon, President Moon said, “I believe the National Assembly helped us to manage state affairs in a swift and stable manner. I would like to thank the National Assembly for approving in a speedy way the appointment of our new prime minister."
“I would also like to ask the Cheong Wa Dae secretariat to work with me as much as possible in order to realize the ‘responsible prime minister system’ that I promised,” said the president.

In regard to the supplementary budget targeting job creation, President Moon ordered his senior secretaries to take extra care in informing the people both online and offline about why a supplementary budget is needed to create more jobs, to explain what the government aims to do with the budget, and to outline what effect it will have on job creation.
The presidential secretaries also discussed what caused the recent issue of worsening income division and how to respond to it. They shared their opinions on the current status of housing debt and potential future response measures.
They talked about the current status of establishing a “nationally responsible system to fight against dementia” and its future plans, and measures to deal with private organizations that have contacts with or wish to visit North Korea.
