The 20th PUAC

consisting of

20,000 Council members

Those who are able to represent the national aspiration and determination towards a democratic and peaceful unification on the Korean Peninsula are appointed as members of the National Unification Advisory Council.

The President of Korea appoints members from local representatives elected by local residents, and the representatives of political parties, functional organizations, major social groups and overseas Korean communities.

In particular, with the balanced participation of local assemblypersons elected by local citizens and leading figures from every corner of the Korean community at home and abroad, the PUAC serves as a truly nationwide, non-partisan organization, encompassing every region, class, political affiliation and generation.

[ Article 3 of the Peaceful Unification Advisory Council Act ]

Article 3 (Organization) For the purpose of recognizing the people's desire for a peaceful reunification, the Unification Advisory Council shall be comprised of no less than 7,000 council members commissioned by the President (hereinafter referred to as "Council members") from among local representatives elected by local communities, and those who are the representatives of political parties, functional organizations, and principal social groups, and capable of speaking frankly for the national intent for unification and making proposals to the President, while complying with the President's request for advice.
