Introduction of the Office of Presidential Committee on Autonomy and Decentralization

Purpose of Establishment of the Office of Presidential Committee on Autonomy and Decentralization

A secretariat can be established for the efficient handling of the works of the committee (Item 1 of Article 47 of the Special Act on Autonomy and Decentralization and Local Administration System).

The matters necessary for the formation and operation of the aforementioned secretariat shall be decided by presidential decree.

Function of the Office of Presidential Committee on Autonomy and Decentralization

The Office of Presidential Committee on Autonomy and Decentralization is established for the efficient handling of the affairs of the Presidential Committee on Autonomy and Decentralization, including supporting the of operations of the committee and the preparation of the agenda for meetings.

The Office of Presidential Committee on Autonomy and Decentralization is composed of high-ranking officials dispatched from the central government as well as local governments, civil servants of grade 4 through grade 7, professional contract workers hired from the civilian sector, etc.

If necessary, the Office of Presidential Committee on Autonomy and Decentralization may request the members of the practical committee, related experts, related organizations or groups to carry out professional research and investigations.
