남북정상회담

​18일(현지시간) 진행된 미국과 일본 정상 공동 기자회견에서 도널드 트럼프 대통령은 “북미정상회담의 성공을 기대하며 전 세계적 성공이 될 수 있도록 가능한 모든 것을 할 것”이라고 말했습니다. 더불어 트럼프 대통령은 수 주 내에 김정은 위원장을 만나 한반도 비핵화를 논의할 것이라고 밝히며 한반도의 평화를 기원했습니다.

수 주 내에 김정은 위원장을 만나 한반도 비핵화를 논의할 것입니다. 북미정상회담의 성공을 기대하며, 미국, 한국, 북한, 일본뿐만 아니라 전 세계적 성공(tremendous thing)이 될 수 있도록 가능한 모든 것을 할 것입니다. 남북한은 평화를 누려야 마땅하며, 한반도 전체가 안전, 평화, 번영 속에서 공존할 수 있는 날이 오기를 희망합니다. 

As you know, I will be meeting with Kim Jong-un in the coming weeks to discuss the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula. Hopefully, that meeting will be a great success. And we're looking forward to it. It would be a tremendous thing for North Korea and a tremendous thing for the world. So we will be doing everything possible to make it a worldwide success, not just for the United States or South Korea or North Korea or Japan, but for the entire world. We hope to see the day when the whole Korean Peninsula can live together in safety, prosperity, and peace. This is the destiny of the Korean people who deserve and have gone through so much over the years. We hope it all works out, and we'll be trying very hard.
